Life works!
Are you concerned about the availability and expense of health care in the new millennium? Actively participate in your life, and take charge of your own health!
Philosophy
Committed to providing the citizens of Cumberland County with alternative healthcare integrating traditional medicine and homeopathic knowledge in the form of Massage Therapy and making it accessible to all residents.
Massage Therapy is a hands on approach to attaining and maintaining good health. It is the scientific art of manual soft tissue manipulation affecting muscles, skin, tendons, ligaments, vasculature and the connective tissue that encases all the above with the goal of increased tissue health and decreased pain.
A Massage Therapist uses a variety of therapeutic techniques which influence the body and nervous system to provide relief from acute pain and / or chronic conditions, decrease accumulated stress and prevent problems before they arise.
If you suffer from any of the following, massage may benefit you:
Stress
Postural imbalances
Strains and sprains
Neck and back pain
Headaches
Tendonitis
Athletic injuries
Circulatory or respiratory problems
Carpal tunnel or piriformis syndromes
Aches and pains due to pregnancy
Benefits of massage
Physiologically, Massage Therapy improves circulation, relaxes or stimulates muscles, aids digestion, stimulates the lymphatic system, speeds up the elimination of waste products, and initiates the relaxation response, all of which help reduce pain and stress levels.
This form of health care is very empowering because each client becomes educated about the strengths and weaknesses of their own body, and thus are in more control of their own well-being.
The therapeutic process
The client's interests are always at heart. Each client has specific needs and a suitable assessment will be conducted so that an appropriate treatment will follow and client and therapist can aim for progressive and hopefully permanent healing. A client's consent is required for any stage of this process and can be revoked at any time. The type and amount of treatment needed depend on the client's health and the condition being treated.
Massage is a catalyst for the body's own healing process but is not appropriate for all conditions. Therefore, discuss your intentions for receiving massage with your family doctor and always inform your therapist about any medical problems. Any part of the therapeutic process is completely confidential. Any information can only be released with the client's written consent.
General information
You do not have to be completely undressed for your massage. Any level of comfort is fine.
You will be completely draped at all times except for the area being worked. You will not be indecently exposed at any time.
Heat or cold may be used to promote healing but will be discussed prior to use.

You may chat throughout your massage or lie quietly, both are equally acceptable.
Please ask any questions you have during treatment. Your comfort and ease are our primary concern.
No massage should not hurt. If deeper techniques need to be used your therapist will explain the reasons why and get your consent first. A pain scale will be used to stay within your tolerance.
